Michael A. Giannasca

The founder of Giannasca & Shook, PLLC, Michael A. Giannasca has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry. He has worked as a cost estimator, project engineer, scheduler, project manager and principal of a general construction and construction management firm and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering. As a construction attorney in the greater New York area his client base consists of contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, suppliers, sureties and homeowners.

Mr. Giannasca has represented clients with respect to construction contract claims and disputes, mechanic’s liens, surety bond claims, OSHA violations, labor union disputes, public bid disputes and a myriad of other construction and real estate related matters.  Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, he has litigated and arbitrated payment claims, breach of contract claims, extra work claims, delay and disruption claims, defective work claims, termination claims and lien foreclosure actions arising out of construction projects in the public and private sectors.

Nathan A. Shook

A partner at Giannasca & Shook, Mr. Shook joined the firm in 2009.  Prior to joining the firm, he worked in-house with a mid-sized general contractor in the Hudson Valley, focusing on risk management and contract drafting and administration.  In addition to his legal experience representing both general contractors and subcontractors, Mr. Shook brings years of hands-on experience in the construction industry to the firm.

Nathan became a LEED® Accredited Professional in 2008 as well as earned his Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS®) designation.  He also graduated from the AGC of NYS Future Construction Leaders of America program in 2007.

Nathan received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School and a BA from Marist College.  Nathan is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in New York State and is a member of the Westchester and Dutchess County Bar Associations.
